Thank you for taking a look at the Goldendale Middle School page on our website! Whether you are a current student, parent, or a new person, we want to welcome you to the 2013-14 school year. The staff and I at GMS are excited to start a new year, and we have some new things in store for the year.
We offer a six period day that includes core classes and some exciting electives like choral and instrumental music, computer technology, family and consumer sciences, and tech related electives. "Gateway To Technology" courses we are or will be teaching this year or next are Design and Modeling,Automation and Robotics, and Energy and the Environment. To learn more about these courses, access Mr. John Garner's web page.
Our National Junior Honor Society chapter continues to perform community service and donate money they have raised to various community interests. Our Navigation 101 program is in its third year to help prepare kids for high school and beyond. Finally, we have an active leadership class this year. Our leadership students work on a variety of leadership tasks and service opportunities including community benefits, Adopt-a-Village, Scare Hunger, and other service projects.
A couple of scheduling things to keep in mind: First, the building opens to students at 7:45, and
hallways are open at 8:00. The first bell is at 8:10 and the tardy bell rings at 8:15. School dismisses 2:50. If a parent needs to see a teacher, they just need to pop into the office and
let the secretaries know. If you are a parent picking up a student, you probably won't need to come until 2:50 p.m. or so.
Again, thanks for joining us! We look forward to an outstanding year.
-Mr. Barta, Principal
